Lara Powell
Research Lead
| Lara Powell (she/her) is a settler of Celtic heritage raised in T’karonto on the Treaty lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit and the traditional territories of the Attawandaron, Anishinnabe and Haudenosaunee. Lara joined the RAD Operations team in early 2023, initially seconded as a consultant with WWF-Canada to support event planning, communications and network coordination. In her current role, Lara manages the RAD research portfolio and advances knowledge mobilization to help co-create accessible, collaborative learning resources and spaces. Lara is excited about “unlearning” and unpacking what “research” means in the context of network weaving and Ethical Space.
Previously, Lara engaged in collaborative research focused on Indigenous-led natural climate solutions, Guardians and youth leadership as a Mitacs intern with Wahkohtowin Development and a Master's student at the University of Guelph. Lara has also worked in the energy access and renewable energy spaces, including with the Hydro Empowerment Network, a knowledge exchange and advocacy platform for community-scale hydropower. |
